Mitchell Bertram “Tweety” Bate, 70, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday morning, November 18, 2019, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born January 24, 1949, in Maysville, a son of the late Henry and Ruth Stafford Bate.

Mitchell proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438. He was a member of Aurora Lodge #148 F&AM in Portsmouth, Ohio; Morehead Chapter 148 Royal Arch Masons; Council #45 Cryptic Masons, Morehead; Commandry #53 Knights Templar, Morehead; and 32nd Mason Cineimuati Consistory. He loved to socialize with his many friends.

Mitchell is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, David Fredrick “Fred” Bate and Cheryl of Vanceburg; five nieces, Teresa (Kevin) Callahan, Michelle Bate, Elizabeth Bate, Karley (Michael) Hinson, and Megin Maugans. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie Owens Bate.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix with Bro. Jerry Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in Liles Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post #5438.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix. Masonic rites will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday by Morehead Lodge #654.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Callahan, Clint Calhoun, DJ Bate, Brandon Bate, Curtis Brewer, and Austin Hollins.
