George “Tom” Polley

George T. “Tom” Polley, 73, of Tollesboro, passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016, at Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
Tom was born November 3, 1942, in Mason County and was a 22-year veteran of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, a member of the Simon Kenton VFW Post 2734, and a member of St. Mary’s Masonic Lodge Number 240 in Tollesboro.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Roselyn Jenkins Polley; two sons, George (Sharon) Lightner of Washington, and Gregory (Rebecca) Polley of Carthage, North Carolina; two sisters, Marsha (Mike) Collins of Vanceburg, and Jennifer (Billy) Castle of Foxport; two brothers, Jessie “Jim” (Mary) of Richmond, Indiana, and James (Rhonda) Gardner of Vanceburg; five grandchildren, Shannon (Jeremy) Lightner, Seth Lightner, Zoe Polley, Caroline Polley, and Rachael Polley; a great-grandchild, Luke Allen Curtis; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Tollesboro Christian Church with Chaplain John Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Members of the Sheriff’s department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Adams, Jeff Polley, Seth Lightner, DJ Jenkins, Joel McCann, Nicholas Collins, and Josh Castle.
Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056, and the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
