A former Lewis County resident has died after being shot early Thursday in Lexington.
Douglas James “DeeJay” Jordan, 27, died Friday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center as the result of a gunshot wound to the head he suffered early Thursday on a Lexington street.
The shooting incident happened about 2:49 Thursday morning on East Maxwell Street in Lexington between Rose Street and Arlington Avenue. Jordan was rushed to the UK Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Jordan and a woman were reportedly walking down East Maxwell Street when the shooting happened. Nearby residents told police that they heard a gunshot and then someone crying.
Lexington Police spokesperson Brenna Angel said a possible motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and added police are asking for help to identify the suspect, described as a young male who fled on foot down Linden Walk after the shooting.
