Ralph William Highfield, 76, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday evening, February 26, 2016, at Heartland Nursing Home in Portsmouth, Ohio.

He was born December 23, 1939, in Lewis County, a son of the late Ralph Irwin and Ermalee Hornback Highfield.

Ralph was a member of the Concord Christian Church and a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed farming and working on old cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Wesley Highfield.

Ralph is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Jeannie Highfield, and Carey and Tammy Highfield, all of Vanceburg; one brother, Arthur Ellis Highfield of Flemingsburg; three grandchildren, Megan Nicole Waldron, Seth Harrison Highfield, and Robbie Lynn Highfield; four great-grandchildren, Josiah Highfield, Cayden Highfield, Brennan Waldron, and Sutton Faith Highfield; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Mary Polley Highfield. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Graveside services were at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Maysville Cemetery in Maysville with Bro. Charles Hampton officiating.

Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg was in charge of all arrangements.

Pallbearers were Terry Highfield, Carey Highfield, Chance Morrison, Paul Applegate, Seth Highfield and Joey Waldron.
