Opal Toller Smith, 88, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday morning, March 10, 2016, at the home of her son at Ewing.

She was born September 11, 1927, in Garrison, a daughter of the late William and Bessie Smith Toller.

Opal attended Shepherd’s Chapel Church and was retired from JC Penny’s as an accountant. She enjoyed going to yard sales, family gatherings and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pershing “Jerry” Smith; four brothers, Ira Toller, Ray Toller, Ralph Toller, and William Toller Jr.; three sisters, Earthel Elliott, Dorothy Toller, and Lorena Hall; and one grandson, Raymond Smith.

Opal is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Smith of Ewing; one daughter and a son-in-law, Judy and Edmund Peplinski of Vanceburg; seven grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, and until the service hour Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.

Chris Smith, Ed Peplinski, Cody Smith, Chad Craycraft, David Smith, Jack Smith, and Sean Smith will serve as pallbearers.
