Mavery Lee Blevins Riggs, 79, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday morning, May 27, 2016, at her residence.
She was born January 27, 1937, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Everett and Edna Sluss Blevins.
Mavery attended Old Trace Community Church and was retired from Morehead State University where she worked as a cook. She enjoyed going to church with her husband, reading her Bible, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charlie Ivan Riggs.
Mavery is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sharon Riggs of Vanceburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernita Ann and Steve Corder of Conroe, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny Blevins of Morehead; and one sister, Edith Helderbrand of Morehead. She also leaves many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly miss her.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Old Trace Community Church on Old Trace Road with Bro. Bobby Burge, Bro. Butch Kelsey, and Bro. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Old Trace Community Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, and until the service hour on Monday at the Old Trace Community Church on Old Trace Road.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix is caring for all arrangements.
