Kathryn “Kitty” Withrow

Kathryn “Kitty” Withrow, 93, of Vanceburg passed away Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016.
Kitty was born December 8, 1922, to the late Warner Clary “WC” and Nicie Bloomfield Edington at Thor, Kentucky. She was retired from the U.S. Shoe Corporation, Vanceburg #10 plant and was a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church. Kitty was very musically talented and was well known in the community as a singer. Her musical career included playing upright bass and singing with the Rhythm Rascals, traveling with the Chess Davis Review, and radio programs, “Kitty and Carrie, The Hometown Girls” on WKKS Radio with her sister Carrie, and a lunchtime program on WPAY Radio, where she sang and played guitar.
Kitty is survived by two daughters, Mickie Dunigan and Debra (Warren) Stevenson, both of Vanceburg; one son, Gordon (Debbie) Withrow of Dublin, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Robin Brown Dunigan of Middleburg, Florida, Rusty (Robin) Dunigan of Quincy, Pam (Ron) Gallagher of Mt. Olivet, Kathy (R.D.) Bentley of Vanceburg, Katie Halterman of Portsmouth, Ohio, Mimi Hamilton of Vanceburg, Zachary Stevenson of Vanceburg, and Emma Withrow of Tokyo, Japan; 16 great-grandchildren, Mathias (Victoria) Brown, Melinda (Rod) McGlone, Brooke Dunigan, Josh Cassill, Brandon Cassill, Zach Bentley, Brandi Bentley, Levi Gallagher, Eden Hamilton, Isaiah Hamilton, Janna Robinson, Atticus Robinson, Cody Stevenson, Vanessa (Clayton) Hutson, Brianna Stevenson, and Cayden Stevenson; five great-great- grandchildren, Karsyn McGlone, Addelyn McGlone, Woodrow Brown, Caden Brown, and Thomas Cassill; and her special friend and caregiver, Bonnie Thoroughman. She also leaves behind her Senior Citizen family, many family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, Kitty was preceded in death by her four sisters, Oma Hinton, Carrie Warren, Beulah Toller, and Lucille Hester; one son-in-law, Russell “Hop” Dunigan; and two grandsons, Michael Dunigan and Anthony Stevenson.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Tom Cox Jr. officiating. Burial was in  Black Oak Cemetery.
