James Stone

James Allen Stone, 86, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday morning, March 25, 2016, at South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Shore.

He was born January 15, 1930, in Lewis County, a son of the late Ezekiel and Eva Mae Edington Stone.

James was of the Methodist faith and retired as a carpenter out of Local Union #1301.

He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, fishing, traveling, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ersel Stone, William Stone, and Oral Stone; and two sisters, Carma Johnson and Nerine Payne.

James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Magdalene Bradford Stone of Vanceburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Jame David and Annmarie Stone of Vanceburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn Sue and Victor Lee Hamilton of Wyandotte, Michigan, and Dusty Diane and Kenneth Eugene Tinsley of South Shore; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Gail Stone of Vanceburg; and one sister, June Burton of Germantown. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix with Bro. Sean Schroll officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Cemetery on Scotts Branch with full military honors accorded by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, and until the service hour on Wednesday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
