Kentucky State Police Officer Richard Bolduc is investigating a collision that has caused Cranston Road near Morehead to be shut down for several hours.

A spokesman said preliminary investigation indicates that a tractor trailer hauling logs, operated by Robbie D Trucking, LLC out of Jackson, was traveling southbound, when it left the roadway and traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.

The impact with the tree severely damaged the truck and caused the logs to become airborne and scatter onto the ground. The driver was injured, and flown via helicopter to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

The accident remains under investigation by Officer Bolduc.
