Bill Hackworth

William Hackworth

William Hackworth, 77, of Tollesboro, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He was born September 3, 1944, a son of the late Ruben and Lena Applegate Hackworth.

Legend has it that he met the love of his life, Norma, peeking through the window of Hickle’s Pool Room and the rest is history. The two were married on June 18, 1966, and went on to create a beautiful family that he cherished.

Anyone who knew Bill knows that behind his occasionally gruff exterior laid a heart of gold. He was sharp-witted, wise, and a man who appreciated a well frosted cake.

In addition to his loving wife, Norma, Bill leaves behind four daughters, Beverly (Harry Lee) Tully, Angela (Tony) Sweeney, Lisa (Dale) Liles, and Christi (Kevin) Emmons; 10 grandchildren, Cory (Whitley) Liles, Alexandra (Geoffrey) Watt, Trayla Liles, Dalton (Karissa) Liles, Alicia Moore, Tori (Chris) Leonardi, Drew (Gwen) Tully, Nikki Emmons, Rachel Tully and Paige Emmons; six great-grandchildren, Fiona Watt, Eliza Watt, Saulyer Liles, Annabella Tully, Remy Jo Liles, and Marina Leonardi; two sisters, Vina Mae (Orville) Carver and Darlene (John) Haggerty; and three sisters-in-law, Janice (Dallas) Burriss, Linda (Don) Evans, and Sandy (Dwight) Rouse. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Hackworth, and a brother-in-law, Jay Withrow.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. John Byard and Bro. Kent Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Fannin, Mark Ginn, David Ginn, Bryan Fetters, Kelly Bradford, and Patrick Tumlin. Darrell Thomas will be an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Ronald McDonald House.
