Anita Esham Muckelroy, 57, of Frankfort, passed away February 14, 2017.

She was born August 9, 1959, to Jo Evans Esham of Vanceburg and the late Jack V. Esham.

Anita grew up in Vanceburg and was a 1977 graduate of Lewis County High School. She graduated magna cum laude from Morehead State University in 1981. While attending MSU, she was selected for the Kentucky Legislative Intern Program.

She was also the first recipient of the Allie Whittington Young Memorial Award for outstanding scholarship in government and public affairs. She earned a law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1984.

She dedicated her life to public service through her work at the Legislative Research Commission, where she most recently served as Assistant Director for Legislator Support Services.

She was well-loved by her co-workers and the legislators whom she served. She leaves behind a legacy of non-partisan excellence and integrity in state government.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 12 years, Benny Muckelroy; her daughter Sara Taylor (Andrew) Boissonneau; one grandson, Jack Boissonneau; one sister, Jackie (Kenny) Claxon; a nephew, Kent (Amanda) Claxon; a great-nephew, Colby Claxon; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends who will miss her greatly.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort with Rev. Tom Troth officiating, assisted by Rev. Steve Weaver.

The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017.

An additional visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Local services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg with Dr. Charles Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Lewis County Education Foundation, PO Box 34, Vanceburg, KY 41179.
