Hord Anniversary

Hord 50th wedding anniversary

Reverend Winn and Mrs. Dorcas (Fetters) Hord are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married July 10, 1956 at Faith Assembly of God in Maysville by the Reverend Elwood Bredbenner. Standing up with the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Patrick Poole.

Winn is the son of the late Russell and Mary Lou (Shoemaker) Hord of Springdale Road, Maysville. Dorcas is the daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (Highfield) Fetters of Plumville. They have five children, Mike (wife-Nancy) Hord, Woodstock, Georgia, Carolyn Tompkins, Mooresville, Indiana, Dale (wife-Mandy) Hord, Greenfield, Indiana, Reverend Greg (wife-Kimberly) Hord, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Brian (wife-Shauna) Hord, Florissant, Missouri. They have 15 grandchildren.

Rev. and Mrs. Hord have accomplished many things while on this journey together. When they got married, he worked at Meadows Bakery. They went on in life and bought their own bakery in Claremore, Oklahoma, which they ran for four years. They have started and pastored two churches, the first one in Bucyrus, Ohio, and the second in Kenton, Ohio. They have also assisted in many churches. Dorcas has been successful in songwriting, poetry, and many crafts including her "Crobagging". She has also sung with many different groups, including one with her two youngest sons. They recorded their first album together.

Winn has been successful in his career in the maintenance and electrical field. He first started at Millington Plastics in Upper Sandusky, and then went to U-Brand Plastics. U-Brand was bought out by Worthington Industries but Winn continued there until he was transferred to Worthington Cylinders in Claremore. He is currently working in the same building, which was bought by CaseCo Manufacturing. Jobs on the side include painting and lawn care. Together, Winn and Dorcas make a wonderful team cooking and gardening. For years they have raised their own garden and have done lots of canning. They have even written their own cookbook.

They reside in Claremore, and attend Oologah United Pentecostal Church in Oologah. Recently they went on a trip to the Holy Land. On May 8, on the Sea of Galilee, they renewed their wedding vows. Their children will host a celebration in their honor on Saturday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Licks State Park in Mount Olivet. This will be held in the Daniel Boone Room located in the Worthington Lodge. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Cake and drinks will be served. Omission of gifts is requested.
