Roy Jesse Jordan

Roy Jesse Jordan, 78, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Community Hospice in Ashland.

He was born July 16, 1943 in Lewis County, a son of the late Robert Ithel and Imogene Johnson Jordan.

Roy was a member of Carter Christian Holiness Church in Carter City and had attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida, for 20 years during the winter months. He was an ordained elder of the Kentucky Christian Conference.

He retired from Kentucky Electric Steel in Ashland and was a farmer. He still enjoyed raising tomatoes each summer.

Roy was a promoter and host of Jordan Gospel Singing for 19 years at his homestead near Vanceburg. He was also a member of the gospel singing group, Campground Quartet.

He enjoyed his monthly breakfast with the Kentucky Electric Steel retirees, reading, and listening to preaching and gospel music.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorene Wilburn Jordan; one daughter, Margaret (Kenneth) Cooper of Vanceburg; two sons, William Alfred (Cindy Chinn) Jordan of South Point, Ohio, and Ithel Dwayne (Angie) Jordan of Vanceburg; seven grandchildren, Donna Jean (Michael) Skidmore of Garrison, Kenneth Jesse Cooper of Vanceburg, Brittany Ann Jordan of Portsmouth, Ohio, Shelby Chinn of Elk View, West Virginia, Skylar Chinn of South Point, Ohio, Madison Elaine McNay of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Isaac Douglas Jordan of Groton, Connecticut; and five great-grandchildren, Nicole Leigh Collins, Logan Michael Allen, Mason Alexander Farney, Zavier Andrew Barraza, and Londyn Isabella Ann Farney. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many close family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Albert Jordan; two sisters, Leva Reeves and Nora Ora Thayer; and one great-grandchild, Carson Wade Allen.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Jerry Jordan, Bro. Bill Burnette, and Bro. Clyde Holbook officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan Family Cemetery on Trace Fork Road.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Pallbearers will be Glade Wilburn, Randy Wilburn, Herb Jordan, Dwight Dillon, Tim Jordan, and William Lambert.
