Parole hearing scheduled for Ricky Switzer Jr.

A man in prison for his part in the robbery beating death of a Lewis County man in 2000 is scheduled for a parole hearing on October 16.
Ricky Dale Switzer Jr., 35, is lodged in the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex at West Liberty. He pleaded guilty to facilitation to murder, first degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the robbery and beating death of Marvin Charles “Charlie” Prater on October 21, 2000.

Switzer was sentenced to a combined 27 years in prison. Three others also played a part in the incidents that resulted in Prater’s death.
Prater’s sister, Melissa Buchanan, has begun a campaign to keep Switzer behind bars.
“It has turned into a battle to protest his parole,” Buchanan said. “I was informed by the prison that all the available spots (at the facility) are already reserved for the hearing.”
