John Richard Vance
John Richard Vance, 74, of Vanceburg, died at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Community Hospice Care of Ashland.
Born at Covedale on August 12, 1935, to the late Orville and Sarah Pierce Vance, he had worked for CSX Railroad and was a taxi driver for Clayton Cooper for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Christine Grigson Vance; five daughters, Deborah Gail Toller of Vanceburg, Eliza Marie (Todd) Warfield of Rochester, New Hampshire, Patricia Bliss of Vanceburg, Nina Vance of Washington, DC, and Debbie Cullum of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, John R. Vance Jr. and Robert (Karen) Vance, both of Toledo; one sister, Lona Riffe of Garrison; one brother, Donnie Vance of Toledo; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Mae Vance.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Rev. Curtis Cordle officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery at Ribolt.
