Lewis County High School Class of 2000
Lewis County High School graduated 135 seniors on Sunday, June 4, 2000. Jeanna Edington, John Esham and Michael Tucker were Valedictorians with 4.0 grade point averages. Brad Hilterbrandt and Shawna Singler shared Salutatorian honors. Jeanna Edington is the daughter of Michael and Rachel Edington of Vanceburg. She has been a member of the academic team, Future Problem Solving team, Beta Club and Future Business Leaders of America where she served as president. Jeanna has also participated in ENABL, the Kentucky United Nations Assembly and the Kentucky Youth Assembly. Jeanna served as statistician for the basketball and football teams for four years and was a 1999 Governor's Scholar. Jeanna received scholarships from Morehead State University, Vanceburg Lions Club and Lewis County Homemakers. Jeanna will attend Morehead State University in the Fall. John Esham is the son of Karen Pugh Esham of Vanceburg and the late Sam Esham. John was a 1999 Governor's Scholar and has been a member of the Beta Club, Future Problem Solving team, academic team, tennis team and Pulsar, where he served as club president. John was a member of the Kentucky Youth Assembly, was co-editor of the yearbook and was senior class president. John received the UK Valedictorian Scholarship, Fleming-Mason Energy Scholarship, Brown and Williamson Tobacco, Lewis County Farm Bureau Scholarship, George R. Hamm Memorial Scholarship by Polar Star Lodge #363 and Leland Cooke Scholarship. John will be attending the University of Kentucky in the Fall. Michael Tucker is the son of Larry and Brenda Tucker of Tollesboro. Michael has been a member of the football team, basketball team, baseball team and track team. Michael was a 1999 Governor's Scholar. Michael was also a member of the Beta Club where he served as president his senior year. Michael received scholarships from Morehead State University and the Lewis County Homemakers. He will be attending Morehead State University in the Fall. Lewis County High School has two students who have achieved the honor of Salutatorian for their class. Bradley Hilterbrandt is the son of Kay Fizer and the late Randy Hilterbrandt. Bradley was a member of Pulsar, Beta Club and track team. Brad will be attending Morehead State University in the Fall. Shawna Singler is the daughter of Richard and Debbie Singler. Shawna was a member of the Beta Club and HOSA. Shawna will be attending Shawnee State University in the Fall.
