Glen Ottis Bear Sr, 76, of Stout, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
Glen was born June 22, 1939, in Washington Court House, Ohio, to Orville and Emma Irene Riffe Bear.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Faye Bear, in 1961; five brothers and three sisters.
Glen started working at the age of 15 at the Nazar Rubber Company in Toledo, Ohio. He also worked as a foreman for Kaiser Jeep of Toledo, farmed several hundred acres in Quincy for over 20 years with the second job of a rural postal carrier, and bought and sold real estate in the Portsmouth area for over 30 years.
Glen is survived by his ex-wife and caregiver during his recent illness, Naomi of Stout, Ohio; three daughters, Glenda Piatt of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Linda (Mike) Shaw of Wheelersburg, and Brenda Bear of Quincy; one son, Glen O. Bear Jr. (Angel) of Friendship, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Jarod(Jessica) Shaw of Wheelersburg, Jeni Marth of Greenup, Brandon Bear of Lucasville, Ohio, Jacinda (Deric) Paxson of Portsmouth, Chelsea Piatt (Aaron) of South Shore, Emilee Hackworth (Larry) of Greenup, Brittany Fitzer (Kyle) of Portsmouth, Elijah Luke Piatt of Wheelersburg, Michaela Shaw of Portsmouth, and Bryanna Bear of Bucyrus, Ohio; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Faye Worthington of Ashland, Melissa Little and Nancy Stone of Greenup, and Eunice VanHoy of Piketon, Ohio; two brothers, John Bear of Waverly, Ohio, and Timothy Bear of California; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Jack Howard officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Nile Township. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
