Flash Floods
Region hit by
flash flooding

The first day of spring arrived with flash floods on March 20, 2002.
 Flood
waters in southern Lewis County covered roads and driveways in the area following heavy
rainfall Wednesday morning. Carter and Rowan Counties sustained severe damage as a result

 Flood waters washed over roads leading to bridge approaches. Electric and
phones were out several hours over an electric pole washed out and fell in the creek.
